Container M&R Manager
- Conduct inspections of dry vans, specials, chassis, gensets, and refrigerated containers. Regularly perform checks and audits on vendor services.
- Implement maintenance and repair policies and guidelines, including establishing, distributing, and clarifying standards.
- Collaborate with Sales and marketing to manage equipment disposition and make sell/fix decisions.
- Oversee the preparation and approval of depot contracts in coordination with Global Operations and Regional Management.
- Manage operational costs associated with third-party vendors, including negotiating service rates.
- Analyze storage, handling, and repair data to make informed decisions.
- Address and resolve issues related to damage protection plans (DPP) and wear and tear.
- Provide repair approvals and instructions regarding unrepaired damages to depot partners.
- Communicate updates regarding customer terms, DPP, auto approval limits, etc., to depot partners.
- Coordinate the addition and removal of depots in collaboration with Global Operations and Regional Management.
- Gather, assess, and disseminate competitive intelligence.
- Approve repair estimates and oversee repairs.
- Evaluate and report on the performance and financial stability of depots.
- Train depot vendors on inspection and repair criteria and standards.
- Resolve repair disputes with customers promptly.
- Organize depot surveys.
- Assist and support with equipment sales.
- Respond to customer inquiries and technical issues.
- Monitor the quality of repairs, approval limits, and survey limits for all equipment grades.
- Organize and carry out depot technical and inventory audits as per Triton International’s guidelines, and proactively post results in Triton’s MIS repository.
IV. Job Requirements:
- Institute of International Container Lessors (IICL) certification.
- Five to seven years of maintenance and repair experience with a steamship, container leasing, or maritime-related company.
- Basic understanding of logistics concepts and practices.
- Familiarity with reefer container maintenance operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive experience with contract negotiations.
- Self-motivated with high energy levels and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to travel frequently, sometimes on short notice; 25-35% travel required monthly.
- Strong integrity and ethical values.
- Must reside within a commutable distance (within 50 miles) of the Walnut Creek, CA office.
- The position follows a hybrid working schedule of three days in the office (Monday – Wednesday).
