Marine Environmental Supervisor
The Environmental Lead plays a key role in supporting the Environmental Manager in developing and sustaining environmental compliance and protection initiatives. When the Environmental Manager is unavailable, this role acts as the point of contact for local, state, and federal environmental agencies. Responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining Best Management Practices, participating in emergency planning, assisting with environmental incident investigations, integrating environmental protocols into the production environment, and conducting training for staff and subcontractors.
A key focus of this role is ensuring air quality regulation compliance, especially with respect to Title V/NESHAP marine coating regulations and associated records, along with responsibilities involving SPCC, Over Water Transfers, TSCA, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, hazardous waste management, and promoting environmental sustainability.
Requirements:
1. Education:
- Required: 7 years of relevant experience, High School Diploma or GED, and completion of a 24-hour HAZWOPER course.
- Preferred: A 4-year degree in a related field.
2. Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in marine environmental management.
3. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving abilities, including identifying issues, evaluating options, and implementing effective solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
4. Physical Demands:
- Must be capable of operating a forklift, observing operations, standing, walking, climbing, and communicating effectively.
- Able to perform manual tasks like grasping, handling, and feeling objects.
- Must be able to walk through ship areas and lift up to 25 pounds.
5. Mental Requirements:
- Basic proficiency in math and reading.
- Ability to write clearly and communicate on both technical and business levels.
6. Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with occasional exposure to wet and humid conditions, airborne particles, moderate noise, and occasional bright lighting.
- Some work near moving machinery.
