Offshore Oil Rig Decommissioning Manager

Job Summary: The Offshore Oil Rig Decommissioning Manager will oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective decommissioning of offshore oil rigs. This role requires extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements, rig construction, project management, and shipyard operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, oil rig layout, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Develop and manage decommissioning project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Ensure all project milestones are met within the defined scope, time, and cost constraints.
Safety and Environmental Management and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all decommissioning activities are completed safely and comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards.
- Implement and oversee safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all personnel involved in decommissioning operations.
- Develop and execute environmental protection plans to minimize the impact on marine and coastal environments.
- Conduct regular safety and environmental audits and inspections.
Technical Oversight:
- Provide technical guidance and support for decommissioning activities, including well plugging and abandonment, topside and jacket removal, and site clearance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and optimize decommissioning methods.
- Review and approve technical documentation and plans.
Contractor Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and select contractors and service providers for decommissioning projects.
- Negotiate contracts and manage contractor performance to ensure adherence to project requirements.
- Monitor and control contractor costs and schedule adherence.
Risk Management:
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for decommissioning activities.
- Monitor and report on project risks and issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure contingency plans are in place for emergency situations.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders, including senior management, regulatory authorities, and community representatives.
- Prepare and deliver project status reports, presentations, and updates.
- Address stakeholder concerns and ensure transparency throughout the decommissioning process.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in offshore oil and gas and/or shipyard operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial role .
- Knowledge of decommissioning regulations, standards, and best practices would be ideal
- Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in challenging offshore environments and travel as required.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH) is desired
